    International Day of The Midwife

    Cork/Kerry  Guided Walk:
There will be guided walk on Saturday May 10th to the Paps of Anu in Co. Kerry(easy from Cork city) to mark and enjoy the day of the midwife.  Please
    come and join us!
Each year hardy midwives from Cork do this walk with other walkers and light a candle marking International Day of the Midwife for all the mothers and
midwives working together and the 300,000 women giving birth in that minute throughout the world.
    Would you like to come?
You will need walking boots and wet gear (just in case - it never rains in Kerry in May!).   It is a great walk passing woods, lambs, Kestrels, Ravens,
Cuckoos, Swallows lakes and streams  on a green road all the way to what is locally called 'the city'.  In fact it is a 4000 yr old stone hill fort with great
views.  It has been Christianised and on May Day a mass is held there. There is an Ogham stone to be found there and a holy well (reputed to have healing
powers and bottled on May Eve find out why!).   It is symbolic because the Paps are two breast shaped hills next to each other and exceptional as they
have a height difference of only a few feet. It was an old pagan ritual on May eve to go to this place -want to know what happened?
Please email Bridget and Jim  at bridgetjim@eircom.net  or call 02820633 for details by May 9th 5pm.

*Not suitable for children under 8 years. Babies can be carried ok in back packs (ie 6months to 12 months of age).
