issues including antenatal care, labour/birth and post natal care. Presently, we are working with local hospitals in setting up maternity consumer groups and are dedicated to raising awareness of the suspended Domino Scheme at UCHG and campaigning for this scheme, in particular, to be reinstated. We seek to improve choice and access for birthing women and their families in the West and in all of Ireland. We are especially optimistic about forging relationships with midwives in the West to promote and support midwifery-led care and domiciliary midwives. We welcome any chance to develop such relationships further and all midwives in the West are encouraged to attend an AIMSI West regional meeting and/or one of our upcoming events!

Youth Work Ireland, Galway has announced the closure of the Young Mothers in Education Project on Monday 31st March. Despite the obvious need for the project, core funding has not been secured after 9 years of service to over 200 young mothers and their children. The organisation would like to thank everyone who supported the work over the 9 years by volunteering, fundraising or funding and in recent times lobbying. Special thanks to Eleanor Clancy, Co-ordinator, who has been the driving force behind service from the start. In the last couple of years she has been joined by Rachel Newland, Sarah Barry, Jackson Carter and Tracey Friel and all the women who have looked after the sessional creche for group programmes.
